Ghaziabad railway station upgrade: Platform widening completed to ease crowding

Indian Railways has completed the widening of four platforms at Ghaziabad railway station, marking a key upgrade aimed at easing chronic congestion and improving passenger safety at one of the country’s busiest rail junctions.

According to the Railway Board, Platforms 5/6 and 3/4 have been widened within the stipulated timeline to enhance capacity and ensure smoother passenger movement, especially during peak hours. Platform Nos 5/6 have been expanded by around 4 metres in the middle section and about 1.5 metres at the end, covering nearly 300 metres. Similarly, Platform Nos 3/4 have been widened by approximately 4 metres in the middle portion and around 2 metres at the end, over a length of about 200 metres.

The upgrade is part of ongoing efforts to manage rising passenger footfall, improve circulation, and strengthen operational efficiency. Railway officials said the widened platforms will significantly reduce crowding, enhance safety, and offer a more comfortable travel experience, reaffirming the Railways’ focus on passenger-centric infrastructure modernisation.
