The Ministry of Steel has showcased India’s growing steel capabilities and opportunities for international cooperation through the India Steel Pavilion at INNOPROM India 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from September 9 to 11.
The pavilion, themed “Forging Together – For Infinite Progress”, highlights the growth of India’s steel industry and its ambitions to emerge as a global steel powerhouse, while focusing on opportunities to deepen India-Russia cooperation across coking coal, nickel, speciality steel, R&D and advanced steel technologies. Key public sector enterprises including SAIL, NMDC, MOIL and MECON are participating, showcasing their technological capabilities and collaboration opportunities with Russian companies.
A dedicated session on India-Russia Collaboration on the Steel Value Chain was also organised on the sidelines, co-chaired by Steel Ministry Secretary Sandeep Poundrik and Mikhail Yurin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, with participation from senior officials and executives across both countries’ steel and mining sectors.
Discussions underlined the steel industry as a key pillar of industrial development and manufacturing competitiveness, exploring cooperation through investment, technology exchange, sustainable steel production and stronger supply chains. The Ministry said the pavilion provides a platform to highlight India’s capabilities and strengthen long-term economic and strategic ties between India and Russia across the steel and mining sectors.
