Work on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) first cable-stayed flyover near Mahalaxmi Railway Station has crossed 55 per cent completion, with a 78.5-metre-high pylon currently under construction. The flyover, connecting Dr E Moses Road with Keshavrao Khadye Marg, is scheduled to become operational by October 31, 2026.
Spanning 803 metres with a width of 17.2 metres, the bridge will cross a 23.01-metre-wide railway corridor and provide a direct link between Saat Rasta and Mahalaxmi Maidan. The steel-supported cable-stayed structure is being executed using advanced construction technology, incorporating high-strength steel components and high-quality concrete to ensure durability against wind, seismic forces and traffic loads.
A specialised crane taller than the pylon has been deployed to facilitate staged construction. While most pylons are complete, remaining works, including approach roads and span construction, are progressing as per schedule, with completion targeted within the planned timelines.
