At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Andhra Pradesh sent a clear signal that it is ready to move from policy to practice. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that the foundation for the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel plant in Anakapalli will be laid after February 15. This ₹60,000 crore integrated facility marks a massive win for the state’s manufacturing sector, backed by a government pledge to clear every hurdle for rapid construction.
However, the state’s vision extends far beyond the factory floor. In Davos, officials pitched a diversified future, seeking global partners for river cruises and eco-tourism models that empower local communities. The most ambitious leap involves the “Space City” and “Drone City” initiatives. By positioning itself as a hub for satellite R&D and unmanned systems, Andhra Pradesh is leveraging its port logistics to chase export-led growth. From heavy steel to AI and aerospace, the state is clearly betting on a mix of industrial muscle and high-tech agility.
