The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has issued a call for bids to develop 3.5 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar power systems at multiple locations in Guwahati, Assam. This project, which is divided into three tenders, aims to enhance the region’s renewable energy capacity and is expected to be completed within six months. Bidders have until December 2024 to submit their proposals.

The first tender (1 MW) requires an earnest money deposit (EMD) of Rs 425,300, with an estimated project value of Rs 55 million. The second tender (1.3 MW) requires an EMD of Rs 492,500, valued at Rs 68 million. The third tender (1.2 MW) requires an EMD of Rs 469,700, with a project value of Rs 64 million.

The scope of work includes designing, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning rooftop solar systems using certified 550 Wp or higher monocrystalline solar modules. To qualify, bidders must have completed similar projects in the past seven years, with requirements based on the tender value.

This initiative follows NFR’s previous tender in August 2024 for 2.93 MW of solar installations at 42 stations and 204 level crossings in Assam’s Rangiya division. It reflects Indian Railways’ broader efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity and reduce its carbon footprint.
