The Railway Ministry reported that construction at the Surat Bullet Train Station in Gujarat is progressing swiftly, marking significant strides in the High-Speed Rail connectivity project.
They emphasized that the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is contributing to the overall development of Surat’s infrastructure.
The Indian Railways announced plans to operationalize the first phase of the bullet train project between Surat and Bilimora in Gujarat by 2026. They also highlighted the recent completion of a crucial bridge over the Dhadhar river in Vadodara district.
According to the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL), the bridge between Bharuch and Vadodara, spanning 120 meters, includes three full-span girders and circular piers ranging from 16 to 20 meters in height and 4 to 5 meters in diameter. They added that seven out of 24 river bridges planned for the Bullet Train corridor have already been completed.
President Droupadi Murmu, in her recent address to the joint session of Parliament, mentioned that work on the High-Speed Rail Ecosystem between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is progressing rapidly. She indicated that the first phase between Surat and Bilimora is expected to be completed by August 2026.
These developments underscore the transformative impact of the bullet train project on regional connectivity, economic growth, and infrastructure development in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
