The Northern Railway (NR) Lucknow division, in collaboration with UP State Bridge Corporation Limited (UPSBCL), is in the process of constructing a 652-meter-long railway overbridge on NH 135A to facilitate smooth traffic movement between Ayodhya City and Darshannagar. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity as the under-construction ROB features a 45.4-meter-long bowstring steel girder over the double rail track.
The collaborative effort has achieved approximately 90% completion of the concrete elevated structure, designed with provision for two lanes. NH 135A, a crucial route connecting Ayodhya with Akbarpur, Shahganj, Jaunpur, and Mirzapur, has gained significance, leading to substantial investments by the NHAI to expand the two-lane highway into four lanes.
Recent developments include the restoration of Surya Kund near Darshannagar railway station, utilized by pilgrims during Deepotsav. Pilgrims also use Parikrama Marg, connecting NH 27 with NH 135A. Rohit Agrawal, Deputy Project Manager of UPSBCL, mentioned that the total project cost has been revised from Rs 52.3 crore to Rs 64.5 crore, citing an increase in the construction cost of the steel truss.
