Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction has secured a contract from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) to construct a cricket stadium in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The project will be executed on a design and build turnkey basis.
The project encompasses various aspects, including developing the main cricket ground in line with ICC standards, installing a display scoreboard, setting up floodlights, creating corporate boxes, VIP lounges, office spaces, broadcasting facilities, press conference areas, as well as providing kitchen and dining spaces, and a practice ground. The agreement also encompasses finishing touches, MEP services, and external enhancements within the 30.67-acre site. The stadium is planned to accommodate 30,000 spectators.
Internationally, L&T has also been awarded a contract by the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) to establish Hi-tech IT parks at four different locations in Bangladesh: Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Cumilla, and Sylhet.
The scope of this endeavor includes erecting seven-story buildings made of structural steel at these eight sites, totaling a built-up area of 1.2 million square feet. The work encompasses civil engineering, finishes, façade installation, and electromechanical components, all designed to achieve a LEED Gold rating. Additionally, the project covers HVAC, fire fighting systems, and related undertakings.
