Tata Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam Government to develop up to 5,000 MW of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, hydro, and energy storage, with a planned investment of ₹30,000 crore over the next five years. The MoU was signed by Krishna Kumar Dwivedi, Principal Secretary of Power for the Government of Assam, and Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during the Advantage Assam 2.0 event.

In addition to the projects, the Assam Government will assist with infrastructure development to ensure seamless transmission connectivity and will promote the creation of Renewable Energy Parks through state agencies. The state has committed to streamlining project execution by offering single-window clearances for approvals, providing financial incentives, and collaborating with research institutions to drive innovation in the renewable sector. Skill development programs will also be introduced to cultivate a trained workforce for the successful implementation and operation of these projects.

The state has set ambitious renewable energy goals, aiming for 500 MW of solar capacity by 2027.
