The Industrial Transition Accelerator has selected 11 Indian projects for support under its India Project Support Programme, representing more than $18 billion in potential investment and an estimated 7.8 million tonnes of annual carbon abatement.
The projects, led by companies including Jindal Steel, JSW Steel, ACME Group, Yamna, Circular Urban Energy and ReNew, span chemicals, steel, aviation and shipping. ITA’s support will focus on financial de-risking, clean demand creation and project readiness to help developers progress toward final investment decisions.
More than 70 per cent of the selected pipeline comprises green ammonia and green methanol projects. Jindal Steel is developing a carbon capture, utilisation and storage project at its Angul, Odisha plant, designed to capture 1.0–1.2 million tonnes of CO2 annually. At JSW Steel’s Vijayanagar facility, the company is evaluating modular carbon capture technology with partners, targeting capture of up to 100,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
ACME Group is developing green ammonia facilities at Gopalpur and Paradip in Odisha, alongside a green methanol plant at Paradip. ReNew is advancing a green ammonia project at Paradip targeted for commercial operation by 2029. Yamna is developing a green ammonia project near Krishnapatnam Port, while Circular Urban Energy is building a waste-to-sustainable aviation fuel project near Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.
ITA said India has more than 65 commercial-scale clean industrial projects across chemicals, steel, cement, aviation and aluminium, with 59 awaiting investment and 53 classified as deep decarbonisation projects.
