Maruti Suzuki India Limited will invest ₹4,960 crore in Gujarat to set up a second passenger vehicle manufacturing plant, strengthening the State’s position as a key automotive hub. The company’s board has approved the acquisition of land at Khoraj Industrial Estate in Sanand from GIDC for the new facility, which will add an annual capacity of 10 lakh vehicles.
Maruti Suzuki already operates a plant at Hansalpur with a capacity of 7.5 lakh units per annum. The company has also announced a fourth production line at Hansalpur, expected to be operational by 2026–27, taking capacity there to 10 lakh units annually. With existing facilities operating at full utilisation, the expansion is critical to meet rising demand.
Located around 30 km from Ahmedabad, the Khoraj plant will be developed in phases and funded through a mix of internal accruals and borrowings, reinforcing Gujarat’s role as a manufacturing and export base.
