The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has named IRCON International as the lowest bidder for Package CA-233 of Mumbai Metro Line 6, also known as the Pink Line. The 15.18 km elevated corridor will connect Swami Samarth Nagar (Lokhandwala) to Vikhroli, improving connectivity across key areas of Mumbai.

MMRDA floated the tender in January 2024 with an estimated cost of $71 million. Out of four participating firms, three qualified for the financial evaluation, with IRCON placing the lowest bid at $75 million—just 6.71% above the initial estimate. Competing bids included Larsen & Toubro’s $100 million and Ashoka-PMPL-RVNL JV’s $130 million.

The contract involves designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning vital metro systems, including the power supply and traction system, electrical and mechanical (E&M) systems, and lifts and escalators across 13 elevated stations. The project also includes a two-year defect liability period followed by five years of comprehensive maintenance.

With IRCON’s competitive bid, MMRDA is expected to finalize the contract soon, pushing forward the development of the Pink Line, which is set to ease congestion and improve urban mobility in Mumbai.
