The long-awaited redevelopment of Indore Railway Station is set to commence next month, with the Railway Ministry approving tenders for the project’s first phase. Estimated at Rs 4.12 billion, the redevelopment is slated for completion by 2027.

To ensure uninterrupted rail services during construction, MP Shankar Lalwani has urged officials to enhance facilities at Dr. Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) and Lakshmi Bai Nagar railway stations. These stations will handle the majority of train operations during the project, with upgrades planned to minimize passenger inconvenience.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier inaugurated the project virtually. Designed with a futuristic, airport-like structure, the station aims to cater to Indore’s transportation demands for the next 50 years. The revamped facility will be ten times larger, accommodating over one lakh passengers daily and offering parking for 500+ cars.

While the number of trains starting or ending at Indore will remain unchanged due to platform limitations, the station will integrate solar panels for sustainable energy and feature 26 lifts and 17 escalators for enhanced passenger convenience.
