Karnataka has approved the construction of South Asia’s tallest skydeck in Bengaluru, set to rise 250 meters at an estimated cost of ₹500 crore. Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil announced the decision on August 23, confirming that the tower will be the tallest of its kind in South Asia.

The Karnataka Cabinet approved the project, which will be located near NICE Road on the outskirts of the city. This decision follows discussions with opposition leaders and MLAs from Bengaluru, who have supported the site selection. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar stated that the project will occupy 25 acres of land, previously considered locations near Kommaghatta and the Bengaluru University campus were discarded due to potential impacts on students and aviation concerns.

Shivakumar explained that after evaluating multiple sites, NICE Road was chosen because of its suitability and availability. He mentioned that NICE Road’s land was secured through an agreement where the promoters are required to transfer approximately 200 acres to the government as per a Supreme Court order.

The skydeck project is expected to significantly enhance Bengaluru’s skyline and attract tourism, offering panoramic views of the city and beyond. The development aims to bolster the city’s infrastructure and provide a landmark that can serve as a major attraction for both locals and visitors. With the approval in place, construction is anticipated to commence soon, marking a significant step in the city’s urban development and showcasing Karnataka’s commitment to ambitious infrastructure projects.
