Brooklyn’s East River shoreline is on the cusp of a major transformation with Williamsburg Wharf, a large-scale development spearheaded by Brandon Haw Architecture. This project offers a dynamic mix of residential units, commercial spaces, retail stores, and inviting public green spaces.

Occupying the last developable site in South Williamsburg, Williamsburg Wharf will sprawl across 3.75 acre and encompass a total of 1 million sq ft. The centrepiece will be five awe-inspiring, 22 storey mixed-use towers designed by a collaborative effort from renowned architecture firms including CookFox Architects, Rockwell Group, and Brandon Haw Architecture itself.

Developed by Naftali Group in partnership with Access Industries, Williamsburg Wharf will be situated at 464-484 Kent Avenue, right next to the iconic Williamsburg Bridge. The project signifies the revitalisation of the last waterfront site in South Williamsburg, aiming to become a vibrant hub for the community.

Renderings depict two cascading buildings adorned with beige tones and lush greenery that stretches down to the waterfront. Open courtyards within the structures will overlook the East River, while retail space will line the opposite side of the development on Kent Avenue.

Landscape architects Scape Studio will collaborate on designing public spaces and gardens, aiming to create a ‘strong public realm’ that seamlessly integrates the project with the surrounding neighbourhood.

Drawing inspiration from the area’s Dutch heritage and grand cast-iron buildings, Brandon Haw Architecture has crafted a unique architectural style for Williamsburg Wharf. The focus will be on maximising the use of natural light, a key advantage of the west-facing waterfront location. Reflective and prismatic details will further enhance the exterior, creating a dynamic interplay with light throughout the day and seasons.

Offering a ‘resort-style’ experience, Williamsburg Wharf will boast 850 residences with top-notch wellness and leisure amenities. Open-air spaces, a dog park, and walking/cycling paths will further enhance the project’s appeal.

Several other design studios are contributing to Williamsburg Wharf, including Ward + Gray, Studio Munge, Hill West Architects, and Future Green Studio. Construction is already underway, with the first phase anticipated for completion in 2025.

This master plan offers a vibrant mix of activities. By combining new public spaces, community amenities, and exceptional residences, Williamsburg Wharf will invigorate and continue the transformation of the Williamsburg waterfront.
