The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries has escalated its plea to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Chief Minister, urging swift action on the construction of Dhalbhumgarh Airport. The Chamber emphasized the critical need for expedited forest and environmental clearances, highlighting the prolonged absence of adequate air connectivity for long-distance travelers in Jamshedpur.
Paresh Gattani, General Secretary of the Chamber, underscored the pending forest clearance papers awaiting the state government’s recommendation. He stressed the potential economic and logistical benefits for residents and major industrial players such as Tata Steel, Tata Motors, FCI, and MSMEs in East Singhbhum district.
The initiative aims to address the limitations of Sonari Airport, which currently operates small commercial aircraft under the UDAN scheme with restrictions due to its short runway. Establishing Dhalbhumgarh Airport is expected to relieve pressure on Ranchi Airport and significantly improve air travel convenience and efficiency in the region.
Members of the Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) from South Eastern Railway, including Arun Joshi and Shashank Shekhar Swain of Tata Nagar, have voiced support for the Chamber’s initiative. They recognize its potential to enhance connectivity and economic growth in the industrial hub of Jamshedpur.
