Maharashtra is gearing up for a new phase of economic expansion with the proposed Pune–Mumbai Global Capability Centre (GCC) corridor, aimed at positioning the State as a leading hub for global enterprises. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the corridor would drive large-scale employment and unlock Pune’s untapped potential beyond the IT boom.
Speaking ahead of the Pune civic elections, Fadnavis said GCCs are expected to scale up significantly across Maharashtra in the coming years. He added that the Pune Municipal Corporation’s planned investment in development projects will amount to ₹44,000 crore, excluding metro-related expenditures.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the proposed Pune Growth Hub, an integrated development plan for the Pune Metropolitan Region, including Pimpri-Chinchwad and PMRDA areas. Currently contributing $78 billion to Maharashtra’s $580 billion GDP, Pune’s output is targeted to rise to $280 billion under the Growth Hub vision, reinforcing its role as the State’s primary economic engine.
