The Union Cabinet has approved the Rithala-Narela-Kundli metro corridor, a significant 26.5-km extension of Delhi Metro’s Red Line. This new corridor will connect Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, making Kundli the sixth city in the National Capital Region (NCR) to be linked by the Delhi Metro, following Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Bahadurgarh, and Faridabad.
Featuring 21 stations, the extension will enhance connectivity to the sub-cities of Narela and Rohini, both key hubs for housing and educational developments. Key stations along the route include Rohini Sector-7, Barwala, Sanoth, Bawana Industrial Area, Narela Village, and Kundli, with no interchange stations on this stretch.
This marks a milestone for Delhi Metro, as it’s the first corridor to link Haryana and Uttar Pradesh via Delhi, strengthening regional connectivity and supporting economic growth.
In addition to this project, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is advancing other extensions, including the Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block and Inderlok-Indraprastha corridors. Moreover, DMRC’s Phase IV projects, spanning 65 km, are making steady progress, with priority corridors such as the Pink, Golden, and Magenta Lines expected to open in phases by 2026.
These expansions aim to ease travel across the region and provide a major boost to urban development and regional growth. The phased rollout of sections will bring incremental benefits to commuters, with the Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension section expected to open soon.
