Uno Minda to Invest Rs 320 Crore in Maharashtra Auto Plant

Uno Minda Limited has announced its entry into the four-wheeler passenger vehicle seating systems segment, with plans to establish a greenfield manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The Board has approved an investment of nearly Rs 320 crore, with commercial operations scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of FY2027–28.

The facility will be developed through Uno Minda Tachi-S Seating Private Limited, the company’s joint venture with Japan-based TACHI-S Company Limited, a globally recognised manufacturer of automotive seating systems. The partnership, which began with seat recliner production for passenger vehicles, is now expanding into the design and manufacture of complete seating systems, moving the company further up the automotive value chain.

The company has already secured an initial order from a leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, providing early validation of its engineering and manufacturing capabilities. The order is expected to support capacity utilisation at the new facility from the outset.

Managing Director Ravi Mehra said the investment will significantly enhance the company’s value per vehicle while expanding its footprint in one of the automotive industry’s most technology-intensive product segments, reflecting Uno Minda’s commitment to strengthening domestic manufacturing and delivering advanced seating solutions for India’s passenger vehicle market.

Uno Minda produces more than 28 categories of automotive components across conventional and electric mobility platforms, with operations spanning India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Germany, Spain and Mexico.
