Gujarat to Launch Its First Data Centre Policy 2026–29

The Gujarat government is set to unveil its maiden Gujarat Data Centre Policy 2026–29, aimed at establishing the state as India’s premier destination for data centre infrastructure, cloud ecosystem development and AI-led digital services investment.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will unveil the policy, which is expected to provide a dedicated framework for attracting hyperscale data centres, cloud infrastructure and AI-focused investments. It will complement Gujarat’s broader push into new-age technology sectors including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, Global Capability Centres and fintech.

Gujarat has emerged as one of India’s fastest-growing data centre destinations, with investment momentum building across GIFT City, Jamnagar, Dholera and the Ahmedabad region. The state’s appeal is driven by reliable power availability, improving fibre connectivity, strategic port infrastructure and increasing access to renewable energy. Major announcements include Reliance Industries’ AI-focused data centre campus at Jamnagar and Larsen & Toubro’s planned 250 MW AI-ready data centre at Dholera.

The new policy is expected to accelerate investment momentum further by creating an enabling ecosystem through incentives, streamlined approvals and support for sustainable, energy-efficient infrastructure. It also seeks to strengthen Gujarat’s position against established data centre hubs and attract cloud service providers and enterprise data centre operators serving both domestic and global markets.
