President Murmu Unveils Key Projects in Rourkela, Highlights Inclusive Growth Agenda

Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday inaugurated a series of infrastructure projects in Rourkela, aimed at strengthening scientific awareness, preserving tribal heritage, and improving urban governance.

The projects include a Planetarium and Science Centre, Nirmal Munda Parivesh Path, a Tribal Museum, and an Integrated Command and Control Centre, marking a significant step in the city’s development push.

Addressing a public gathering, the President highlighted the natural beauty and cultural richness of Sundargarh, describing it as a region known for its forests, rivers, and strong sporting culture. She noted that Rourkela has evolved into a cosmopolitan hub, contributing to the promotion of Odisha’s art, literature, tribal traditions, and sports, while attracting people from across the country for employment opportunities.

Emphasising inclusive growth, Murmu stated that national progress depends on the upliftment of all sections of society, particularly tribal communities. She added that both the Centre and the state governments are implementing targeted welfare initiatives to accelerate development in tribal-dominated regions like Sundargarh, with a focus on economic empowerment.

Calling for collective effort, she urged citizens to actively participate in nation-building and support marginalised communities. Expressing confidence in India’s growth trajectory, the President said the country is on course to become a developed nation by 2047. She also noted that Odisha will complete 100 years of its formation in 2036, underlining that the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” and “Viksit Odisha” will require contributions from all sections of society, including farmers, labourers, youth, and tribal communities.
