The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved funding of ₹4,100 crore to support the revitalisation of the Musi Riverfront in Hyderabad, with the development of new bridges forming a key part of the plan. The project aims to enhance connectivity across the city, improve urban mobility, and stimulate economic growth through integrated infrastructure development.
The Musi Riverfront rejuvenation will involve the construction of multiple bridges, designed to link key areas of the city and ease traffic congestion. Alongside bridges, the project will include the development of roads, sewage treatment facilities, landscaping, and public spaces, creating a modern urban corridor. The total cost of the broader development is expected to exceed ₹1 lakh crore, with additional funding to be sourced from state government allocations, foreign assistance, and public-private partnerships.
The new bridges will not only provide faster and more reliable transport routes but also improve access between commercial hubs, residential areas, and cultural landmarks. Their construction is anticipated to generate significant demand for structural steel and other materials, offering opportunities for domestic steel manufacturers and suppliers.
The Musi Riverfront project is part of a wider effort to transform Hyderabad into a more sustainable and liveable city, with a focus on integrating transport, environmental management, and urban design. The inclusion of modern bridges in the plan highlights the city’s commitment to building durable, future-ready infrastructure.
By connecting communities and facilitating efficient movement across the city, these bridges are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping Hyderabad’s growth trajectory. The project also reinforces the importance of long-term investments in infrastructure to support economic development and enhance quality of life for residents.
