Delhi Government to Launch Logistics & Warehousing Policy 2025 to Boost Trade Efficiency

The Delhi government is preparing to unveil its Logistics and Warehousing Policy 2025, a comprehensive plan aimed at reducing congestion, cutting pollution, and improving trade efficiency in the National Capital Region. The policy seeks to create modern logistics hubs, green freight corridors, and Urban Consolidation & Logistics Distribution Centres (UCLDCs) to streamline goods movement within and outside the city.

A key feature of the policy is its support for 24/7 operations, digital delivery systems, and designated loading and unloading bays, which are expected to ease traffic bottlenecks caused by freight vehicles. The policy also encourages a shift to electric and CNG-powered commercial vehicles to reduce vehicular emissions, aligning with Delhi’s clean-air goals.

To encourage private sector participation, the government will provide land lease discounts, subsidies for technology adoption, and incentives for cold-chain infrastructure. These measures are expected to benefit industries such as steel, manufacturing, and retail, which depend heavily on efficient warehousing and logistics networks.

Experts believe the policy will play a vital role in enhancing last-mile connectivity, reducing logistics costs, and supporting e-commerce growth, while simultaneously cutting down pollution from freight movement. By improving freight efficiency, the policy is also likely to support faster movement of raw materials and finished goods for heavy industries, including the steel sector.

Industry bodies such as FICCI have welcomed the initiative, stating that integrated logistics solutions will be crucial for India’s economic growth and competitiveness, especially in urban centres like Delhi.

The new policy is expected to align with the National Logistics Policy and PM Gati Shakti master plan, ensuring better multimodal connectivity and sustainable infrastructure development.
