The ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Plant, being developed with the support of HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, will be established in two phases at an investment of Rs 1,47,162 crore in Nakkapalli mandal, Anakapalli district. Industries Minister TG Bharath announced that this major project will create employment for approximately one lakh people.

During a recent Assembly session, Bharath revealed that the plant will have a total production capacity of 17.8 million tonnes per annum. The first phase will see an investment of Rs 61,780 crore, focusing on a capacity of 7.3 MT per year, while the second phase will involve Rs 85,382 crore for a capacity of 10.5 MT.

Minister Bharath also recalled the 2018 meeting between Lokesh and Aditya Mittal at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where the idea of establishing the plant in Andhra Pradesh was first discussed. Although initial plans were delayed after the state leadership changed in 2019, the project is now moving forward due to the trust in Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership and the support of the NDA government. The plant is expected to become the largest steel manufacturing facility in India.
