Amazon has made a notable investment in three wind energy projects across India, with a combined capacity of over 379 MW. The projects, which include the CleanMax Koppal (100 MW) in Karnataka, BluPine Solapur (99 MW) in Maharashtra, and JSW Energy Dharapuram (180 MW) in Tamil Nadu, align with the company’s commitment to powering its operations with 100% renewable energy. These developments contribute to India’s ambitious target of sourcing 50% of its electricity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030.

The Indian government has welcomed Amazon’s investment, emphasizing the importance of global partnerships in accelerating the nation’s clean energy transition. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Shripad Yesso Naik both expressed support, highlighting how such investments will reduce emissions, generate employment, and strengthen India’s energy security.

Amazon’s involvement in renewable energy is part of its broader sustainability agenda. The company has already invested in over 600 renewable energy projects globally, with 53 of those projects located in India, collectively generating over 4 million MWh of clean energy, enough to power 1.3 million homes. These efforts play a key role in Amazon’s Climate Pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
