Gurugram’s metro network is set for a significant expansion with a Rs 54.5 billion investment to enhance connectivity across Millennium City Centre, Old Gurugram, and Cyber City. The 28.5 km corridor will feature 27 new stations, aiming to ease congestion and improve urban mobility. Construction is scheduled to begin on May 1, 2025, with funding support from the Haryana government, which is contributing Rs 45.5 billion, and the central government, providing Rs 8.9 billion.
The metro line is expected to accommodate 540,000 daily commuters upon launch, with ridership projected to grow to 726,000 by 2031. The project includes the construction of five underpasses and flyovers to streamline transit and reduce traffic bottlenecks. The metro will operate at a top speed of 80 km/h and will integrate a Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system to enhance operational efficiency and passenger safety.
With a targeted completion timeline of four years, this expansion is set to modernize Gurugram’s transport infrastructure, making daily commutes faster and more efficient. The project aligns with the city’s broader efforts to strengthen public transport and support economic growth by improving accessibility and connectivity.
