Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently inaugurated the redeveloped Terminal 1 at Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. The terminal now spans 1,000 square meters, a significant increase from its previous size of 270 square meters. Additionally, the airport has expanded pedestrian walkways by 900 square meters to facilitate smoother passenger movement.
As part of the upgrade, the entry and departure lanes have been expanded. Entry lanes have increased from eight to fourteen, and departure lanes from three to four. The terminal has also introduced four new DigiYatra gates, enhancing check-in efficiency. The security screening area has been enlarged from 300 square meters to 450 square meters, featuring more queues and updated furniture for better passenger experience.
In terms of aesthetics, the airport has made notable improvements, including the construction of a 140-meter architectural wall and the addition of 300 square meters of new gardens. These upgrades are designed to accommodate rising passenger traffic and offer a more convenient and efficient experience for travelers.
