Oriana Power Limited, through its subsidiary TrueRE Surya Private Limited, has been awarded a Rs 5.2 billion contract by Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL) to develop and operate a 128 MW ground-mounted solar power plant in Tamil Nadu. This project, part of the Open Access Captive solar power segment, is expected to generate 1,920 lakh units of electricity annually, supporting Dalmia Bharat Group’s goal of achieving RE100 by 2030 and becoming carbon negative by 2040.
The solar plant is anticipated to be completed within 12 months, increasing Dalmia Bharat’s renewable energy capacity. As part of the deal, DCBL will acquire a 26% equity stake in TrueRE Surya Private Limited for Rs 4.4 billion, allowing it to source solar power as a captive consumer. The transaction is expected to close within four to six months.
Anirudh Saraswat, Chief Business Officer of Oriana Power, stated that this contract underscores Oriana’s growing recognition as a key renewable energy partner for major enterprises. Previously, Oriana secured a Rs 247.88 crore contract from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for a 52 MW solar project. With these projects, Oriana now has over 570 MW of solar capacity under execution, having already delivered more than 240 MW across India.
Oriana has also partnered with U.S.-based green hydrogen electrolyser manufacturer Splitwaters and plans to commission a Giga-factory to produce electrolysers and Balance of Plant (BOP) modules, with an initial 500 MW capacity by 2026 and another 500 MW by 2027.
