In a major step to enhance tourism and regional connectivity, Kota is set to build a new airport, a development eagerly anticipated by locals and stakeholders. The Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Civil Aviation Authority of India, and the Urban Development Department have formalized the project through a signed agreement. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced that the state government will provide the necessary land for the airport construction at no cost, highlighting the commitment to advancing infrastructure in the region.
The new Kota Airport is designed to address the long-standing need for improved air connectivity in the city, offering significant benefits to the Hadoti region’s residents, including students and tourists. The AAI will be responsible for overseeing the construction, operation, and ongoing development of the airport, ensuring that the project meets all necessary standards and supports future growth.
Chief Minister Sharma has directed the Kota Development Authority to prepare a comprehensive development plan for the areas surrounding the proposed airport, emphasizing the importance of integrating the new facility into the local infrastructure. The development plan is currently being finalized, and tenders for the construction of the airport will be invited shortly.
In addition to the Kota Airport project, Chief Minister Sharma has urged the AAI to accelerate the development of a new state terminal at Jaipur Airport to further enhance connectivity. The state government has also allocated land for improvements at Udaipur Airport and for the approach road at Uttarlai (Barmer) Airport. Furthermore, a new civil enclave is planned to support the expansion of regional air travel.
This initiative marks a significant investment in the city’s infrastructure, promising to meet the growing demand for air travel and support economic development in the region. The new airport is expected to be a catalyst for increased tourism, improved connectivity, and greater convenience for travelers in and around Kota.
