The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) has released a tender for the comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) of six ground-mounted solar power projects, each with a capacity of 10 MW, for a total of 60 MW. These solar plants are located in Dhaka I and II in Birbhum, Santaldih and Chharrah in Purulia, and Sankrail in Jhargram. The contract will include system upkeep, maintenance of the 33 kV power evacuation infrastructure, security, and personnel training for WBSEDCL staff.
Interested bidders must submit proposals by February 22, 2025, with bid openings scheduled for February 25. The estimated project cost is Rs 150.4 million, requiring an earnest money deposit (EMD) of Rs 1 million and a performance bank guarantee of 10% of the contract value. Non-compliance or delays could result in penalties, including liquidated damages and forfeiture of the EMD.
To qualify, bidders must have prior experience in commissioning a 10 MW grid-connected solar project or handling O&M services for a similar capacity. Additionally, financial requirements include an average annual turnover of at least 30% of the project cost over the last three financial years, a positive net worth, and valid income tax returns for the past three years.
This tender aligns with WBSEDCL’s broader push for renewable energy expansion. In a separate move, the company recently invited bids for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for a 20 MW solar power project in Birbhum district, further strengthening West Bengal’s commitment to clean energy initiatives.
