The Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) is making headway as land acquisition for its Corridor-4, the Kanaka Line (Heelalige to Rajanukunte), has officially commenced. The Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE) is acquiring 48.122 acres of private land across Yelahanka, Bengaluru East, and Anekal taluks. Meanwhile, the Railways has handed over 115 acres, ensuring that civil works gain momentum after delays. The 46.88 km project is expected to be completed by 2026.
Preliminary works are already underway, with 15 minor bridges completed and the Embedded Rail System (ERS) construction underway. Geotechnical investigations are ongoing, and officials await approval from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for tree-cutting in protected areas. The corridor will include 8.96 km of viaducts and 37.92 km of grade separators, with 19 stations, including Yelahanka, Marathahalli, Bellandur Road, and Bommasandra.
Additionally, the tender process for the Soladevanahalli depot is nearing completion, with KPIC Projects Ltd securing the contract. This depot will support the 24.86 km Mallige Corridor (Baiyappanahalli to Chikkabanavara), while another facility near Devanahalli will handle maintenance for 51 trains (306 coaches) across both corridors.
