The Telangana government has approved Rs 242.69 billion for the Phase II expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, which will add 76.4 km of metro corridors to the existing network. The project is a joint venture with the Central government, funded on a 50:50 basis. The state government will contribute Rs 73.13 billion, while the Union government will provide Rs 42.30 crore. The remaining funding will be sourced from international loans and a public-private partnership.

Phase II includes key corridors such as Nagole-Shamshabad, Raidurg-Kokapet, and Miyapur-Patancheru. In addition, the project will extend to a 40-km stretch from Shamshabad Airport to the proposed Fourth City. The extension will be undertaken later, as field surveys and assessments are ongoing.

The Telangana government is also prioritizing the integration of the metro with other public transport systems, including the upcoming Regional Ring Road. This approach aims to create a cohesive and efficient transit network for Hyderabad.

With a focus on reducing traffic congestion and pollution, the project will enhance urban mobility and contribute to the city’s sustainable growth. Phase II of the Hyderabad Metro Rail is set to significantly improve the connectivity and quality of life for Hyderabad’s growing population.
