Karnataka Minister MB Patil announced significant updates on the state’s railway projects during a press briefing in Bengaluru on September 12, 2024. He highlighted the advancement of two suburban railway lines, set to cover 75 kilometers and be completed by December 2026.

Patil also emphasized the government’s commitment to upgrading the Hasan-Bengaluru double railway line, which is crucial for boosting state industries and improving connectivity.

In addition, he discussed the funding model for these projects. The costs will be shared equally between the Karnataka government and the Government of India. Patil noted that they had recently reviewed the state’s railway projects, including the suburban lines, as part of this collaborative funding approach.

The minister also mentioned that the suburban railway initiative involves a 50-50 funding partnership, reflecting a strong commitment to enhancing regional transportation infrastructure.
