Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently engaged with industrial leaders in Bengaluru, aiming to position the state as a premier investment hub. During his interactions, Mann highlighted the state’s robust industrial growth and the conducive environment for business expansion. He noted that since March 2022, Punjab has attracted investment proposals amounting to ₹1.23 lakh crore, which are expected to generate employment for approximately 4.7 lakh youth.
Mann emphasised that Ludhiana, often referred to as the industrial capital of Punjab, is set to host Tata Steel’s second-largest steel plant in India, following Jamshedpur. This ₹2,600 crore green steel plant, based on Electric Arc Furnace technology, will have a capacity of 0.75 million tonnes per annum and is expected to create over 2,500 jobs. The project underscores Punjab’s commitment to sustainable industrial development.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s favourable business policies, including the Fast Track Punjab Portal, which offers over 150 business services, and the Punjab Right to Business Act, ensuring swift project approvals. These initiatives aim to streamline processes and attract further investments. Mann’s outreach in Bengaluru reflects Punjab’s proactive approach to industrial development and its efforts to foster economic growth through strategic investments and policy reforms.
