GMADA Approves Construction of Two New Bridges to Alleviate Traffic Congestion in Mohali

The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has sanctioned the construction of two new bridges over the N-Choe stream to ease traffic congestion in the NIPER-Kumbran and Sector 68 areas. The ₹17 crore project aims to enhance connectivity and streamline traffic flow along key routes, particularly the stretch connecting the PCA Stadium to Sector 68.

The first bridge, estimated at ₹9 crore, involves the realignment and expansion of the existing structure near Sector 68. This modification will transform the current T-junction into a crossroad, allowing for smoother access to Airport Road and reducing bottlenecks near the sports complex. The second bridge will run parallel to the existing one, facilitating a dual-carriageway along the NIPER-Kumbran corridor, which is currently under development. This addition is expected to alleviate significant choke points, especially during peak hours.

Construction is slated to commence by the end of the year, contingent upon the finalisation of tenders and the acquisition of necessary environmental clearances. These infrastructure enhancements are anticipated to not only improve traffic conditions but also stimulate local economic growth by facilitating better connectivity and accessibility in the region.
