Tata Steel Partners with InQuik to Bring Modular Bridge Technology to India

Tata Steel has entered into a strategic partnership with Australia’s InQuik Group to introduce advanced modular steel bridge technology to India, aiming to revolutionise infrastructure development in remote and challenging terrains. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with InQuik to deploy prefabricated steel bridge systems that offer faster, more economical, and scalable alternatives to conventional bridge construction methods.

The InQuik system comprises prefabricated steel formwork that is transported to the site and then filled with concrete, combining the strength of steel with the durability of reinforced concrete. This approach significantly reduces construction time and cost, while also minimising the need for heavy machinery and skilled labour-making it ideal for rural, hilly, or flood-prone areas where logistical access is limited.

Speaking on the partnership, Tata Steel officials highlighted that this initiative aligns with the company’s broader vision to move beyond raw steel production and expand into value-added infrastructure solutions. The modular bridge segment is seen as a high-impact area that can support national connectivity goals, particularly under government programmes like Bharatmala and PM Gati Shakti.

Tata Steel will manufacture and supply the steel components for these modular bridges, while InQuik will provide the patented technology and engineering design expertise. Together, they aim to offer turnkey solutions to government agencies, railways, and private infrastructure developers.

This collaboration also supports Tata Steel’s sustainability objectives by enabling infrastructure that has a lower carbon footprint due to efficient use of materials and reduced construction timelines. The company believes that such innovations will play a crucial role in building safer, smarter, and more resilient infrastructure across India.
