Jindal Steel & Power Rebrands as Jindal Steel—Reinforcing Focus on Core Steel Business

Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL), one of India’s leading private-sector steelmakers, has officially renamed itself Jindal Steel Limited, effective 22 July 2025, following approval from the Registrar of Companies under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, according to an exchange filing.

The board-led decision aims to sharpen the company’s brand identity around its core steel business, distancing itself from non-steel verticals such as power generation. Despite the simplified name, Jindal Steel will continue to operate as a public limited company under the same Corporate Identification Number, with its presence spanning steel, mining, and infrastructure domains across India, Africa, and Australia.

Board approval for the change was granted in June 2025, with shareholder approval and statutory clearances already secured. The rebranding reflects the company’s strategic intent to present a focused, steel-centric identity to investors and stakeholders globally.

Industry analysts suggest that eliminating “Power” from the name indicates a structural shift toward prioritising steel-making and downstream integration-aligning with JSPL’s ongoing investments in value-added steel products processing in Odisha and beyond.
