Aequs Infra, a prominent developer of integrated industrial clusters, has announced an ambitious plan to develop 12 million square feet of warehousing and manufacturing infrastructure across Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities in India. The announcement follows the appointment of Shyam Kalyanasundaram as the new Chief Executive Officer of Aequs Infra. A seasoned infrastructure and real estate professional, Kalyanasundaram brings decades of leadership experience and is expected to lead the company’s next phase of expansion, beginning with key hubs in South India.
The planned industrial parks will cater to diverse sectors including automotive, aerospace, electronics, and general manufacturing, and are expected to incorporate modular, prefabricated steel structures to accelerate construction timelines and improve operational efficiency. The expansion strategy aligns with the Indian government’s ongoing emphasis on ‘Make in India’, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and PLI (Production Linked Incentive) schemes, all of which aim to boost domestic manufacturing.
According to a report, Aequs Infra’s initiative signals a strategic shift in India’s industrial real estate landscape, with steel-based construction playing a central role. Steel’s durability, scalability, and eco-friendliness make it a natural choice for the rapid development of industrial structures, especially in emerging manufacturing hubs.
Aequs Infra has already made its mark with the Aerospace SEZ in Belagavi, Karnataka, and the upcoming expansion will likely replicate that success at a pan-India scale. The new parks are also expected to support employment generation and regional economic growth, particularly in non-metro regions.
