India’s steel sector has recently seen a surge in industry engagement through high-impact conferences and expos, each focusing on key challenges such as supply chain volatility, raw material dependency, and the growing threat of stainless-steel imports.
The Global Stainless-Steel Expo 2025, held from June 4–6 in Mumbai, brought together stakeholders from across the manufacturing and infrastructure sectors to address the rising influx of imported stainless steel into Indian markets. Industry leaders voiced concern over quality disparities and unfair pricing strategies that are impacting domestic producers. Discussions emphasized the need for regulatory interventions, anti-dumping measures, and increased support for local manufacturing under the “Make in India” initiative .
Meanwhile, the India Steel Supply Chain Summit (Infra & Construction), hosted by BigMint, offered a platform for experts to analyze the volatility in raw material prices, especially metallurgical coke, and its impact on cost structures. The summit focused on building resilient and localized supply chains, particularly for infrastructure-linked steel projects in railways, highways, and energy sectors. Attendees included procurement heads, policymakers, and logistics leaders discussing adaptive strategies for procurement, warehousing, and risk forecasting .
Earlier this year, the India Steel Expo 2025 (April 24–26) served as a central gathering for showcasing India’s expanding steel capabilities. Supported by the Ministry of Steel, the event featured major steel producers, technology innovators, and global buyers. It aimed to promote exports, green steel, and value-added products, reinforcing India’s ambition to be a global hub for high-quality steel products .
Together, these gatherings reflect the industry’s proactive stance in tackling global competition, supply disruptions, and the policy reforms necessary to support sustainable steel infrastructure development in India.
