PM Modi to Inaugurate World's Highest Railway Bridge Over Chenab on June 6

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Chenab Bridge on June 6, 2025, marking a significant milestone in India’s infrastructure development. This steel arch bridge, part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL), stands at a height of 359 meters above the Chenab River, making it the world’s highest railway bridge.

The Chenab Bridge spans 1,315 meters and connects the Bakkal and Kauri regions in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. Its construction, which began in 2004, faced numerous challenges due to the region’s complex geology and extreme weather conditions. The bridge is designed to withstand high wind speeds and seismic activities, ensuring safety and durability. As part of the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Modi will also flag off the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, enhancing rail connectivity in the region.

The completion of the Chenab Bridge is expected to boost economic development, tourism, and integration of the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India. It stands as a testament to India’s engineering prowess and commitment to enhancing connectivity in challenging terrains.
