At the ‘India Steel 2025’ conference, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi outlined the state’s ambitious goal to ramp up steel production to over 130 million tonnes annually by 2030. Speaking at the event, CM Majhi highlighted Odisha’s growing prominence in India’s steel landscape, already contributing significantly with 54 integrated steel plants and a current production capacity of 41.21 million tonnes.
To support this expansion, the state government has announced plans to auction 22 additional mineral blocks by 2026. This strategic move aims to ensure steady raw material availability and sustain long-term growth in the steel sector. The Chief Minister emphasized the state’s investor-friendly policies, abundant mineral resources, and robust infrastructure as key enablers of this growth.
“Odisha is not just the steel capital of India, but a key driver of the nation’s industrial future,” said CM Majhi. He called on industry leaders to partner with the state in achieving its vision and assured full support from the government.
With this roadmap, Odisha is positioning itself as a global steel hub, aligning with India’s broader infrastructure and manufacturing goals. The state’s proactive approach signals a new era for Indian steel production.
