Tata Steel has appointed three South Wales-based contractors for key parts of its £1.25 billion green steel-making project at Port Talbot. The new contracts, signed with Bridgend firms Darlow Lloyd and Sons, Wernick Buildings, and Swansea-based Andrew Scott Ltd, will create over 300 skilled jobs in the local supply chain.
Darlow Lloyd and Sons will oversee excavation, recycling, infrastructure, and drainage work as part of the site’s transition to Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel-making.
Andrew Scott Ltd will focus on constructing vital infrastructure, including a new scrap yard to handle UK-sourced used steel for the EAF process.
David Evan Williams, Civil Contracts Director, expressed pride in the company’s long-standing presence at Port Talbot, emphasizing the importance of supporting local talent and workers from surrounding communities. As the project progresses, Tata Steel is committed to further job creation and community involvement.
