Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government, focusing on the development of renewable energy projects in the state. The partnership aims to generate seven gigawatts (7,000 megawatts) of power through solar, wind, and hybrid energy projects.

This initiative is expected to bring investments of around Rs 49,000 crore, positioning TPREL as a leading investor in Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy sector. As part of the state’s Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) policy, the government will offer incentives to Tata Renewable Energy.

Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted that this agreement aligns with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision to transition Andhra Pradesh toward green energy, with the goal of attracting Rs 10 lakh crore in investments and establishing 160 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity. The partnership is expected to create 7.5 lakh jobs and drive economic and environmental benefits for the state.

The New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) will assist TPREL by identifying land and providing infrastructure support for the projects. Lokesh noted that the MoU strengthens the long-term relationship between Tata Group and the Andhra Pradesh government, contributing significantly to India’s clean energy goals.
