The redevelopment of Ratnagiri Airport under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) is advancing steadily, with 10% of the work already completed. This Rs 55.56 crore project aims to boost regional air connectivity, tourism, and economic growth in Ratnagiri. Swati Pandey, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), highlighted the importance of on-site oversight to ensure the timely completion of the project.

Set to be completed within 18 months, the upgraded airport will feature modern facilities, including a 3,390-square-meter Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) capable of handling 125 passengers per hour. The project will also include aesthetic upgrades, such as GRC cladding, landscaping, and a 950-square-meter utility block. Additionally, symbolic elements like a grand entrance arch and a Mango Bonsai Garden will reflect the region’s cultural heritage, specifically honouring Ratnagiri’s famous Alphonso mangoes.

The project is being managed by Dorsch as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) and Nyati as the contractor. Once complete, the revamped airport will significantly enhance Ratnagiri’s connectivity, transforming it into a key aviation hub and benefiting the region’s economy and tourism sector.
