Pune Metro Line III, connecting Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar, is now expected to be completed by September 2025, following an extension request by the concessionaire. The original deadline of March 2025 has been pushed back due to delays in the integrated flyover component, which is now slated for completion by March 2025 instead of the earlier December 2024 target.
As of now, the 23-km corridor is 74% complete, while the integrated flyover stands at 65%. Construction of the critical ramp and deck slabs is still ongoing, with the 1.7-km flyover expected to finish by April 2025. Delays have been attributed to heavy traffic, pending permissions, and challenges with road widening and utility relocation at University Chowk.
Metro stations between Maan and Balewadi Highstreet are expected to be operational by April 2025, but the University Chowk stretch will see further delays. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar are closely monitoring the project, and revised timelines are under discussion. To expedite progress, Rs 6 billion out of the committed Rs 12 billion has already been released.
