The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) has announced that the revamp of Ghatkopar station is on track for completion by 2027. While Phase I of the project, commissioned in December 2023, has already enhanced commuter convenience, the ongoing Phase II aims to deliver comprehensive upgrades.

Phase II includes the construction of two Foot Over Bridges (FOBs), each measuring 12 meters in width and 75 meters in length, located at the CSMT and Kalyan ends. Additionally, a 300-meter-long, 8-meter-wide elevated west deck above platform 1 is under development, with partial site clearance and pile foundation work underway. Other enhancements include a 4-meter-wide skywalk linking platform 4 to the municipal FOB, service buildings for GRP and electrical facilities, and a G+1 structure with ticket counters and offices.

To improve accessibility, six staircases, four double-discharge staircases, seven escalators, and three lifts are being installed. MRVC’s CPRO, Sunil Udasi, confirmed the completion of the south FOB foundation, ongoing fabrication for columns and cross beams, and progress on the north FOB, including the partial demolition of an old booking office.

Phase I upgrades included a 75×12-meter FOB, a 15×45-meter east deck, a booking office with four counters, and six escalators. A new two-wheeler parking area and east-side façade are nearing completion, although delays persist due to the relocation of a municipal toilet.

Udasi emphasized MRVC’s commitment to transforming Ghatkopar station into a commuter-friendly hub, aligning with the corporation’s vision for modern railway infrastructure.
