The Nagawara Metro station, part of Bengaluru Metro’s Pink Line, will be distinctive among the 66 stations in Phases I and II due to its hybrid design. The station will be constructed with half of it underground and the other half at ground level, according to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials. Construction is already underway.
The Pink Line spans 21.26 km from Kalenga Agrahara to Nagawara, with an underground section covering 13.76 km from Dairy Circle to Nagawara. Unusually, the concourse level (ticketing area) of Nagawara station will be at ground level, unlike other underground stations where this area is below ground.
The Nagawara underground station, named Nagawara One, will connect directly with the elevated Nagawara station on the Airport Line, which is being constructed along the Outer Ring Road. The vertical separation between the underground and elevated rail tracks will be about 30 meters, compared to the 10 meters at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda station, making it almost three times higher.
This design choice facilitates future Metro line extensions beyond Nagawara and addresses the challenge of the nearby Rajakaluve, requiring the station to be constructed 5 meters below it. Additionally, four floors above Nagawara One will be developed for commercial use, totaling approximately 27,000 sqm for property development.
