Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu announced that the construction of the international greenfield airport at Bhogapuram might be completed ahead of schedule. Accompanied by state ministers Kondapalli Sreenivas and Gummidi Sandhya Rani, Vizianagaram MP Kalisetti Appalanaidu, and Nellimarla MLA Lokam Nagamadhavi, Naidu inspected the Bhogapuram airport construction site on Sunday.

During the visit, GMR Group Deputy Managing Director I Prabhakar Rao briefed the ministers on the progress. The inspection included the terminal building, the air traffic control tower, and the runway construction. The ministers interacted with workers and assessed the ongoing works at various stages of the project.

Naidu highlighted that while the airport was initially slated for completion by December 2026, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu recently set a new deadline of June 2026. The work is reportedly advancing swiftly to meet this target.

As of August 11, 36.6% of the project had been completed, marking a 4.8% increase from the previous month. Naidu praised the GMR Group and L&T representatives for maintaining steady progress despite heavy rains. He emphasized that the progress will be reviewed monthly, with regular updates provided to the public.
