In a significant infrastructure upgrade, Indian Railways has completed the re-girdering of Bridge No. 136 over the Kali River on the Shikohabad–Farrukhabad section under the Prayagraj Division. All 10 spans of the bridge have been replaced with new standard steel girders, enhancing structural strength, safety, and load capacity.
The complex operation was carried out with precise coordination, involving controlled river flow in collaboration with the state irrigation department. Two 500-ton cranes were deployed to execute the girder replacement safely along the riverbank.
Addressing industry leaders, the Chief Minister assured strong administrative support and encouraged expansion of existing units while fostering ancillary and small-scale industries.
Led by the Bridge Line Team under the Deputy Chief Engineer, the project reflects strong inter-departmental coordination across engineering, electrical, and operations units. With the upgrade complete, the section is set to witness improved train speeds, higher efficiency, and strengthened reliability, reinforcing this vital rail corridor.
