Modernisation work at Dumraon railway station on the Danapur–Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya section of East Central Railway has gained momentum after resuming post-monsoon. The ₹17.1-crore redevelopment, being executed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, is steadily progressing towards completion, with around 50% of the work already finished.
A new station building spread across 3,012 sq m is under construction, featuring modern ticket counters, improved waiting areas and upgraded passenger amenities. The project also includes a 19,214 sq m circulating area, a six-metre-wide foot overbridge, new platform shelters and resurfacing of 500 metres of platforms.
Passenger-centric upgrades such as lifts, modern toilets, a new waiting hall and a second entrance are being developed. The station will also feature shehnai music honouring Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan. Officials expect completion before March 2026, boosting Dumraon’s role as a key passenger hub.
